The Misha May Foundation Continuing and Future Goals.....

  • Homes (foster & adoptive) for dogs with emotional & behavioral needs, for whom we will design Holistic Wellness Plans.
This year, with your help, we expanded our foster & adoptive network to absorb the 80 animals we rescued from Katrina. Each animal will eventually be placed in a permanent compatible situation. This goal has always included Colorado dogs as well.

  • A network of facilities for short term stays in between homelessness, fostering & re-homing.
We have begun the exciting development of this network! It addresses a fundamental question which torments rescue workers daily: "Where will the animals stay as they await their 'right' people?" Due to pet overpopulation, owner rejects, adoption mismatches, as well as stray and found dogs, immediate anxiety-reducing emergency housing, without the possibility of euthanasia, is required.

  • A home-like safe harbor of our own for emergency stays, training, classes, events, etc.
Deep appreciation needs to be expressed here for the volunteers who opened their homes for the variety of reasons stated above. We are counting on you to help us fund our own 'home'. We pledge to you that dogs and the people who love them, will be better off because of our efforts.

  • Continued fund raising, research & education, classes & events, networking & collaborations.
We see The Misha May Foundation as part of the rich and varied tapestry woven by many groups working toward similar goals. We believe that the more groups there are in existence, the greater the chance of sucessfully addressing the overwhelming problems that the animals face. We respect and admire all the workers and volunteers who compassionately face the suffering.

  • Volunteers to help us manifest our goals.
There were so many volunteers at one point during our Katrina rescue efforts that we were unable to contact them all. If you are one of the people we missed, we apologize. Please come back to us. We would love to welcome you, and to include you in our efforts. We have so much to learn from each other.
