Gigantic Garage Sale and Bake Sale to Benefit the Baby Bear Medical Fund 3901 East 7th Parkway, one block west of Colorado Blvd, in Denver
Friday May 16th @ 8am - 5pm and Saturday May 17th @ 9am - 3pm
The Baby Bear Medical Fund is used for dogs whose medical needs are beyond the ordinary. Bear showed us that Misha May is supposed to take care of each dog that shows up in the best way possible. He will always be remembered as a dog well worth knowing and a character unto himself. Other dogs who have already benefited from Bear's legacy are Grey, Jack aka Utah, Smokey Joe aka Raven, Buddy, and numerous Katrina rescues with heartworm disease.
Volunteer hours: Present time until Garage Sale: Collect and store items. Thursday, May 15: bakers, transport items and outdoor set-up. Friday, May 16 from 6am - 6pm and Saturday, May 17 from 7am - 5pm: Transport and handle dogs, merchandise sorters, sales, table bake sale and literature. Saturday 5pm - ?: Take down, transport, and dispose of items. Volunteer for however many hours you can. (We raised $2800 last year for Grey's heart surgery - we would like to do even better this year - it takes LOTS of items and LOTS of volunteer help starting now). CHAMPS holistic shelter dog training program at MaxFund
The Misha May Foundation has been sponsoring this program for two years.

The next eight week series begins on Thursday, June 12, 2008 @ 7:00pm. This is an Introductory Evening with demonstrations and presentations.
If you would like to learn how to help shelter dogs become more adoptable, this program is making a huge difference. Each volunteer trainer works with a MaxFund dog for a minimum of eight weeks in this weekly training class. Beginning Training Classes
Each class will include Basic Training, Individualized Attention, and Solutions to Common Behavioral Problems.
Puppy Training Classes
Puppy socialization, relationship building, training foundations, and basic beginning obedience.
Our 8 week 1 hour classes cost $165 for the public. Dogs adopted through Misha May pay half price; Misha May foster dogs attend for free. We welcome dogs from any rescue group into our classes and we will work with you to help make it possible. Email info@mishamayfoundation.org for more information.

The first class is without dogs. Everyone is welcome to attend this presentation and demonstration even if you do not plan to attend the other 7 weeks.

Hatha YOGA in the Greater Denver area

Lorraine has been teaching tradtional YOGA since 1973. The emphasis is on accepting yourself where you are. No experience is neccessary.
There are several types of classes to choose from:
1. Join Lorraine for YOGA to help calm rescue dogs. As we perform the asanas, the dogs will benefit from the meditative peace and calm.
2. Join Lorraine with your friendly dog, for a fun, yet meditative class. This can deepen your bond and improve your health as well as that of your dog's.
3. Lorraine will conveniently bring YOGA to you and your friends in a private class in the comfort of your home. If you want to do YOGA and have an appropriate space, this can get you started.
Printer Cartridge Collection
Drop off your used printer cartridges at Journey Books, 1050 So. Wadsworth, Lakewood. Please mark them with TMMF. Or e-mail info@mishamayfoundation.org for alternative collection options. We will submit them for cash that will help care for our foster dogs.

Please plan to attend if you have: public relations, media or journalism background; any personal or professional contacts in the media (radio, tv, print, web); at least a relatively up-to-date metro Denver media list.
Some of the goals of the meeting: Create a vision for Misha May, which includes a Training Center / Facility. Draft a public relations plan. Establish goals - how to get there. Delineate deadlines - necessary to meet goals. Volunteer for general tasks and/or tasks before next meeting.

$165 for an 8 week preparation to become certified by the AKC as a good canine citizen. Dogs need to have completed a basic training class to enroll. This certificaiton can be a first step for therapy dogs, or can demonstrate to a landlord or hotel manager that your dog is well behaved.
